Premier League Accumulator Betting Matchday 2: How well did I do on my second acca of the season?
I picked the winner of six PL matches for matchday No 2. Did I get all six correct?
Accumulators are a bookmakers’ favourite bet for casual and inexperienced punters make. Why? Because the more selections a bettor places on their accumulator, the more unlikely the wager will be successful. Unfortunately, for football fans like me, accas are fun to make.
Trying to pick multiple selections from different matches and hoping they all come off is incredibly gratifying, especially when you can win money.
For Premier League matchday No 1, my acca picks did quite well, although the bet did not win. I picked five out of six selections correctly. All selections for an accumulator must be successful for the bet to win.
On matchday No 2, I picked six more matches for my acca and staked £1. However, Bet365 (other bookmakers are available) gave me £2 in free bets. I staked £3 altogether on my matchday No 2 six-fold acca.
My selections for this week were:
Liverpool to defeat Bournemouth
Fulham and Brentford to both score
Tottenham and Man United to both score
Man City and Newcastle United to both score
Wolverhampton and Brighton to combine for over 2.5 goals
Aston Villa to defeat Everton
The total return for the six-fold acca was £27.59, with a profit of £24.59 from a £3 stake (£1 of my own money, £2 in free bets). When using free bets, bookmakers do not include the free bets as part of the return. So, the actual return would be £25.59.
Well, matchday No 2 didn’t go well for me. While Liverpool and Aston Villa both won, and Wolves and Brighton combined for over 2.5 goals, the rest of my selections did not win. Tottenham and Man United failed to both score. Manchester City held Newcastle United scoreless. Fulham failed to score at home against derby rival Brentford.
Matchday No 1 saw me pick five of six matches correctly, but matchday No 2 was a step backwards, with just 50% of my selections being right. Can I do better on matchday No 3? Well, let’s hope, but six-fold accas have plenty of risks compared to making one-off bets.
Here are the Premier League matchday 3 fixtures:
Chelsea vs Luton Town
Bournemouth vs Tottenham
Arsenal vs Fulham
Brentford vs Crystal Palace
Everton vs Wolves
Man United vs Nott Forest
Brighton vs West Ham
Burnley vs Aston Villa
Sheff United vs Man City
Newcastle vs Liverpool
Once again, I will pick six matches for my six-fold acca. Some trends are already starting to emerge. For example:
Brighton saw over 2.5 goals in both matches this season
Man City did not concede a goal in either PL match
Liverpool saw BTTS in their opening two games
Everton lost and failed to score in both matches
Hopefully, I can pick six correctly for matchday No 2.
